Get Images From Pixabay Without reCAPTCHA

When we are going to get an image from Pixabay, the chosen image resolution may causing the site to show the reCAPTCHA pop-up box to verify that we are a human and not the robots.

The site itself is offering users the 4 different image size and capacity (different resolution).

The first resolution is the lowest and we can get the image right away when hitting the download button.

Meanwhile for the second and third resolution, base on my experience, almost 100% the reCAPTCHA box will be displayed and we should getting through the process before start downloading.

Different with the last option which is the highest image resolution, we will have to login to the site to get it.

For the webmasters or site owners, using reCAPTCHA can be the solution to protect the site from spam and abuse.

For me, I sometimes find myself need to work a bit faster as possible. And if I could save some seconds of my time in using Pixabay, I would do that.

How to download image from Pixabay without reCAPTCHA

You may have heard me saying the reasons to download free images from Pixabay.

Especially in providing high quality pictures for my blog posts as well as getting image materials to learn photo editing.

And I have found that in many cases, I don't really need the very high image resolutions. As long as they aren't "that" bad, I'm good to go and so do you.

It's mean that you and me may need to avoid the lowest image quality while getting the highest one is also not quite necessary.

We will need the in-between quality which are the second and third resolution options as mentioned above but without need to proceed the reCAPTCHA box.

If there will be any way to do that, you'd want it too, don't you?

And for this tutorial, I have found that the second image resolution option is works well with a simple trick I have been using to bypass the reCAPTCHA .

The steps you can do since the very beginning are as follow.

1. Find an image you'd like to download from Pixabay

Do your search of any image you'd like to get!

It doesn't matter if you are going to get a photo, vector graphic or an illustration on Pixabay. They are all an image-base file in different formats such JPG and PNG.

If you've found one, click and open it right away.

2. Identify the second image resolution

Then, find the Free Download button on the right-side. If you are using mobile phone, you can see it below the displayed image.

Click on the button so the resolution options will be shown.

The only thing you will need to do with this step is to identify the second image resolution by knowing the image's width.

Mostly, you won't need to know how its height is. See image below!

Identify image's width in Pixabay

As shown on above, an image I'm going to get has the 1280 in width. Just remember this.

For so many images displayed in landscape style on Pixabay, I've found that the second image resolution has that width.

3. Open the URL's source code

Just so you know, I am using Google Chrome to visit Pixabay for this tutorial.

And to open the URL's source code of an opened web page, I simply ensure that the active tab I'm working on is the Pixabay's page where the image is located.

Right click on the page and choose View page source (Ctrl + U) so there will be a new tab full of the page's code.

Opening the image's page source

Just in case you will apply this method through smartphone, simply add view-soruce: before the main URL as shown on above picture.

4. Find the image address with its width you have identified before

On step 2, I have shown that the image's width to get is 1280 pixels.

While you are now in View Page Source tab, open the Find tool by clicking on browser's options and search for the image's width only.

Search for image address or URL

Mostly, the first result will be the image address you are looking for. If not, press enter for another try.

For my case, the image address where it is hosted is:

https://cdn.pixabay.com/photo/2019/10/21/14/54/oranges-4566275_1280.jpg

Its URL consists of the image's width which is 1280 placed before the file format (.jpg). What you need then is start saving the image through that URL.

5. Saving the image

If you are using laptop or PC for this method, saving the image can be done by right-click on the URL and choose Save link as.

But, whatever device you are using is, you can always try to open the image first to ensure it is the right one and the right URL.

To do that, simply click on image URL you found to opens it on a new tab, then right click on displayed image and choose Save image as.

Download image from Pixabay through its original URL to skip reCAPTCHA

That's when your download process is about to start.

If you do all the above steps right and getting used to them for your next works, you will then finds out that downloading image from Pixabay without reCAPTCHA is actually easy. Just gives it a try.

Another interesting thing and benefit that may helps you about this trick especially when knowing the image address is you can also using it along with the advanced image editor like Photopea since it is supporting the option of opening an image from URL.

So, in case you will need an image from Pixabay and edit it in Photopea, you can do it totally online and will only need to save 1 image file as your final result.
