Wait, WHAT? How can it be possible?! Usually, when we need to be somewhere and do whatever things we need to do, shouldn't we have to prepare everything and then start the journey so we can be at at where we need to be?
It shouldn't be the opposite and that has been a common thing for us for years and I believe it won't be changed in a future, right?
But, let me explain this to you.
The term of "Arrive first, then depart!" was actually one of the philosophies of the sailors in my hometown, Tomia Island - Wakatobi.
If I'm remembering it correctly, it was a way for sailors to know more information about the port of destination where they are going to make a living.
When the boat was set to sail, there only 3 ways to utilized it at the destination which are transporting the passengers from one seaport to another, buy some products and then reselling them, or the combining both activities.
And to do that, all the sailors especially the captain should have been well prepared before.
That's how valuable the information was in the past and surely it is even more valuable for today's business to grow even further or in knowing what their competitors are doing.
In the past, some of the ways to do that are through letter corresponding or asking the other ship's crews to make sure what they are going to do wouldn't put them in big loss.
They will also need to know about the weather condition and which paths of the ocean they need to take, how good or bad the waves were and many things.
So, they need to be at the destination or arrive first in term of looking for more information and then start departing by setting the sail up so the journey will be begun.
That's how the sailors were prepared themselves years ago in my island so they won't be confused about what to do at their destination port.
Thinking about that, shouldn't we realize that the way before sailing was the wise one that can be still useful for today in many aspects of our life? Let me know what's your thought.
